Frank Beermann, one of the distinctive conductors of his generation, is the general music director of Chemnitz Theatre and the principal conductor of the Robert Schumann Philharmonic. He has recently had triumphant success in the opera and concert repertoire, winning an Echo Klassik Award (2009) and the Excellentia Award from Pizzicato, Luxemburg, with his CD releases for cpo and Sony Classical. Guest performances have taken him to the Berlin State Opera, the Dresden Opera and the Bruckner Orchestra Linz.
